The opera "La bohème" was composed by the Italian Giacomo Puccini, to a libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. The story is based on the book "Scènes de la vie de bohème" by Henri Murger. This collection of short stories is set in the 1840s in Paris's Latin Quarter and revolve around the lives of a group of young bohemians.
