Published by Rick Robertson (S0.17580)."Circles" is based on the familiar repetitive "circular" chord progression I, vi, IV, V - the basis for many popular songs such as "Heart and Soul" and "Blue Moon". Here I took that four-bar structure and wrote a piece to help a student stretch bit by bit out of the Middle C Position. It builds to a little climax before coming back down to the simpler, quieter texture of the opening. It is dedicated to Amy Burns, an adult beginner and mother of two young students, as I felt it suited her musical and technical needs at the time.
