This is a striking combination of two famous tunes, "Kingsfold" and "The Third Tune". It is set much like an early American work of Billings or Mason and has a slightly naive quality that is most charming. The work is given a simple organ accompaniment and begins with voices in unison, setting off the melody in gracious style. The work expands at the change of hymn tune to richer harmony and the final verse is set in the simplicity of the opening. This would make a lovely hymn-anthem or introit for small choirs.
