Squid Party is a chamber piece for three oboe and English Horn and is a sound representation of squid gathering in the ocean to celebrate. The pieces starts out with mysterious trills that represent the wildlife, and the excitement of the ocean. and a majestic melody that is echoed throughout the opening. These opening themes transition into an upbeat dance-like section that introduces a bouncy melody that is shared between all parts. At the conclusion of the piece the part begins to die down and the opening majestic melody is repeated as the sea creatures begin to drift back into the ocean from whence they came. but is followed by a short, surprise ending that repeats the jig, in a joking manner, from the second section.
