Franz Wohlfahrt's studies have remained to be very important for the development of the basic technique. With no doubt, they are the most-favoured studies used by the vast majority of violin teachers and their students. In this edition prepared by Bohumil Kotmel, fingerings have been newly revised and the majority of studies have been supplemented with suggestions for mastering various technical and intonational problems, thus providing a ground for a full mastery of each study. For the sake of clarity, selected studies have been divided into two parts, the second being focused on playing in the first positions and double-stops.
